Dennis, Some FAA inspectors WILL NOT sign off on the split elevator. I'd suggest you talk to Bill Coon and see if you can talk to his favorite FAA person. Unfortunately, Bill's good FAA person has been promoted and can no longer sign off on good ideas like the split elevator. He might have good suggestions, though. Be sure to get your paperwork signed off before you spend the money or cut up your elevator.
