Regarding the above statement:
Truckee is only 5900 feet high and the only place there may be any
downdrafts will be at the approach end of "19". If the south winds are
strong enough to warrant the use of "19" instead of "28" just land long.
If you touch down about 1/3 to 1/2 of the way to the intersection with
"28/10" you will roll to a stop by the time you get to the taxiway on
the south side of "28".
There is not any problem landing or taking off at TRK!!!! It is very
open without any terrain clearance problems. Unless there is a very
strong cross wind or too much traffic I will usually land on "28" so I
can practice my cross wind landings.
One other thing to be aware of is the glider traffic. They always use
an East side traffic pattern for "19/01". Left for "19" and Right for
"01". The powered planes always use a West side pattern for the cross
wind runway Right for "19" and Left for "01".
