I think Mr. Collins gathered most of his information fromthe NTSB reoports in the very beginning of Ercoupe flying. They did have bad press then. Mostly from overdemonstrating them . I have over 1100 hours in my coupe and because I had good training from the beginning, Jim Allison as my instriuctor, never experienced the bad stuff..... Ten years ago I checked out my new instructor in the coupe and we did the phase I Wings requirements. He has taken me through phase 10, working on eleven and he can fly the coupe every bit as good as I can. By the way, the FAA has only wings for the first ten years.
You can quailfy for the phase eleven but you get the certificate and no wings. The Program manager in Louisville, KY. has phase 11 wings and up.
