Be careful here.  Some valves, Safe Air, for example, I believe, do use 
O-rings.  (Insist on a genuine AN o-ring) But others, Curtis, for example,

require a flat washer and do not work correctly with O-rings.  In
addition, 
Curtis no longer provides the washers as there is a problem with the
valves 
wearing and coming apart, which will drain tour tank in short order.
