I think we could do it if we were collecting for an established charity like the Red Cross or something. I'm sure they (which ever charity was chosen) could help with the legal work. However, I wonder about any type of regulations about collecting for some charity donations. Off the top of my head, I would think that you'd have to set up some type of non-profit organization. Treasurer, accountants and all. Maybe the EOC could act as the collection agency and bypass those headaches. I do NOT know the rules regarding something of this nature and throw it back out to the group for any experience along these lines.
