Hi Fred,

I fly a '67 Alon Aircoupe with metal wings and a 90hp engine. I'm sure
you'll hear many voices on these topics, but here are my opinions.

1. I don't think so. They're very durable if cared for, and considerably

lighter.

2. You can't get fabric wings on the younger 'Coupes like mine, but I've
not heard folks comment one way or the other about performance. On the
older 75 or 85 hp 'Coupes, fabric has the benefit of being lighter and
improving your useful load.

3. I'm not aware of any.

4. Depends on what two you're talking about, and what 'Coupe. My
'Coupe's
gross is 1450 with a useful load of 488. I can carry 144 pounds of fuel,
and put 75 pounds in my back seat. Most 'Coupes don't have back seats,
and
many don't have the extended baggage compartment in the back which makes
it
pretty tough to carry anything with two people. Also, if you're big
folks,
well...anyway, I can go someplace for the weekend in mine with another
person.
