Did anyone notice that the deadline to respond to this is only FOUR days
away? Must respond by November 26, 2001.

With Thanksgiving and federal Holidys - there really isn't time to
respond.

After reading and Re-reading the the proposal and recommended solution,
it appears that they have taken one of the old ercoupes that someone
abandoned and left to rot- donated it to a Part 147 school for students
to work on - and are surprised that it had corrosion. If that's the
case, then the proposal is ludicrous.

And the timing on this is fishy. It was dated October 25, 2001, and is
now being sent out to EOC members?

I'd like to know why EOC didn't get this out in a more timely fashion -
via email/bulletin boards.

the AOPA has gone to bat for Cessna owners and other regarding propsed
AD's. Members should alert them of this.

The solution looks like it mandates eight more inspection plates by a
Univair Service Bulletin dated July 24, 2000. This will not be a cheap
AD to comply with. Even worse, it will add to the "swiss cheese" look
of the bottom.

No one wants anyone flying with corroded wings, but this appears on the
face of it to be an unneeded solution.

WRITE [EMAIL PROTECTED] or FAX him at 303-342-1088 and voice your
concerns.

I know how beuracracies work and what gets action. I for one am going
to stress that there has been very little time for owners to become
fully informed on the issue. And let them know that I intend on
"personally contacting" (they don't like that) Political Action groups
of AOPA, EAA, Congressmen , and other members higher up in the FAA to
have a more complete and timely review of this "proposed" problems.
