Figured some of you might have experience with this...

What's the best way to get county approval for a private landing
strip
(NOT "airport")? I've heard that FAA approval and State approval is
usually no big deal but that things can get hung up with the county.

Here's the deal... a fellow I met in ID put in a strip by saying that

is was an access road and though the county wanted to call it an
airport he said no, it was for private use only and wasn't an airport

but an access road for his plane. Then I've heard horror stories
about counties saying you can in no way land a plane on your own
property (especially if the neighbors complain about the noise)
without a special use permit. What gives- why can't someone land a
     plane on their *own* property?

I would like to buy a piece of property but don't want it if I can't
put a strip in. If getting one "approved" (if its really needed per
the Constitution) will probably take too long to make the sale of the

     property contingent on it.

     Any advice?

     Thanks!
