The project to offer the baggage compartment kit from UNIVAIR was a HUGE success! We sent in 30 orders! All shipments will be made from the factory at no additional cost. The only dowside to this whole project is that MOST of the orders came from the DIRECT MAIL that was sent out. This was expensive compared to e-mail. It appears that most of the Alon ownerd do not subscribe to this chat line. My next project is to see if I can get enough owners interested in the installation of a single axis autopilot. The Alon was equipped with a Bendix autopilot from the factory at an additional charge. However, it is 30 year-old technology. I have a Bendix unit that was removed from a Bonanza, but I am reluctant to spend the money to have a 30 year-old autopilot installed in my airplane. Now I am on the march to see if there are enough Alon owners who would be interested in a STEC single-axis autopilot. I fi can get enough positive responses, I will approach STEC and see if they will create an STC approval for their unit for the Alon. I believe this is the way to go to keep the price down, rather than seek FSDO field approvals. If we can get an STC approval, ALL the installations will follow the same blueprints.
