I have a stromberg carb, a working (it moves) mixture control and an egt guage.
I fly at 1500 msl most of the time and occasionally go as high as 3000. The EGT is only useful as an engine on indicator. I never touch the mixture control (except to try and clear a fouled plug on the ground) and pulling it far enough makes the engine run rough. I plan to remove the EGT and replace it with something useful like a CHT.
