I figured that by now someone would have made mention of the article in this months Sport Aviation on the Renaissance Luscombe. Since no one has, I guess I will bring it up. While it is nice to see plans to bring an old classic like the Luscombe back into production it is a real shame that it wasn't the Coupe. Production is to be actually done in Czechoslovakia and the engine will be a Lycoming 150 Hp O-320 giving it a rate of climb of 1800 fpm and cruise of 135 mph. Estimated cost is $70K, kind of makes your Coupe look even better doesn't it. The draw back is the empty weight will be roughly 1050 lbs and gross of 1400 lbs. Not much useful load but there is a chance the gross will be upped by reducing the aerobatic capability to when only within the original gross weight. One of the rather amusing comments was that the Luscombe was chosen because "it was designed for easy construction" I can hardly imagine that any aircraft could have been designed for easier construction than the Coupe. Oh well, there it is, it will be interesting to see if they actually do go into production Dave
