List,

Took a newbie up in the "Bugsmasher" yesterday so he could see how it behaved
in the pattern. He recently acquired a 5000 series "G" model for the obscene price of $1200. Thats not a misprint $1200. It was purchased at a sheriff's sale.
Needed new wings, and the center section had some corrosion. Very old radio
and minimal instruments. Took about $4000 to get it airworthy. As soon as the paperwork is complete he will be flying. When he asked me if I would like to go
up in his bird, I told him I would watch him go around a few times first. Most of
the time I would welcome the chance, but that corrosion scares me.

By the way, Dave Smoler (among those "unnamed Alon drivers") has taken me
up on my short landing challenge. We will test our skills this Sat. at Q94. The
time is "high noon", and "this town ain't big enough for the both of us". The
feeble among you Alon types are welcome to join us.
