Georgia...
Your first flight may be a little overwhelming. It really depends
on
your instructor. No matter what happens don't worry about all the
"chatter"
on the radio as being some foreign language, or keeping the airplane
coordinated (most of us coupers don't have a choice now do we?) JUST HAVE
FUN!~ I walked away from my first lesson kinda freaked out. "what did he
say?
what did that mean? what was that bump? what are all these EMERGENCY
things
for? I'll never understand all this stuff... AHHHHHH!~" Before long things
started getting familliar. Then came the picture. "the picture" as my
instructor explained is what normal is... scenery, airplane attitude,
sounds,
instruments, weather, etc. Once you understand what is normal, it's alot
easier to relax.
I've talked to quite a few instructors about dealing with anxiety
and
apprehension and the overall take is : Make you feel as comfortable and
learn
as much as you can while enjoying every minute. If you aren't having fun
it
will take a lot longer. The other thing is... FLY as much as possible.
make
friends at the airport, offer to split expenses w/ someone just to get up
in
the air in the right seat.
Have a great time, and when you are done, sit down and write
all
your feelings in your log book. They will be priceless reading for you
years
from now when you have thousands of hours.
