Thanks one and all for the info on my missing tail tie down ring. This is of some concern since I must tie down outside. I do have both wings tied down and the wheels chocked so I should be ok until I can do something about it.
I need to inspect it better to see what exactly happened. If indeed the captive nut rusted out there might be enough meat left to drill and rethread larger or insert a helicoil. If the nut plate is torn out then it's another problem. We did have one major windstorm when I had 09H tied in the same spot. The plane didn't even budge so I think the parking area is pretty well protected.
