I'll had the cockpit fill with oily smoke twice. The first time in
3800H.
Was interrupted doing preflight. Learned a lesson that I knew about but
had
not learned yet. Yes, I left the cap loose. A trip around the pattern at
600
AGL.
The second time was in the Alon doing touch & goes. An I think it was
the
third or forth take off. As with your Alon my cap had worn enough that it
unlocked it's self. I replaced the dip stick after that.
