Question about Goodyear Brakes...
I have two sets of brakes, most easily identified by the disc
thickness.
One is approximately 1/8 inch thick and has brake pucks about 0.450
inch long.
The other is approximately 1/4 inch thick and equvalently shorter
pucks.
The Ercoupe manual I have indicates the pucks originally were 0.460
long and gives no indication of the thicker disc and shorter
pucks.
I assume that the thicker disc is a later modification. (maybe wrong
assumption...) I don't have any publication which describes this change
in brake design.
Question. Are they completely interchangable with either caliper?
I would like to use the thicker disc as it could absorb considerably
more energy if needed without overheating... that is if they are
legal.
THanks,
Joe
