Decided to change my oil Sunday, and as an after thought, decided to go
fly'n. Climbed out at about 400 fpm. (I'm at 4500 asl, so that's OK)
Funny thing is, it just kept climbing. Averaged 400 fpm up to 11,500
ft. I'd never done it before, but decided to head east right up and
over the top of "Y" mountain. This is generally considered un-topable.
We had a pretty good wind, so I knew I'd have updrafts all the way up
and over. I did find out the following truism. For every up draft,
there is an equal and vastly more turbulent down draft. Made the ride
down the other side and down Provo Canyon quite interesting. All in all
a great 35 minutes of flight.
Now, back to the oil change. I don't have a continental service
manual, and this is the first time I've changed the oil. I've heard
tell there's an oil filter in there somewhere, but God knows I didn't
find one. Where's it at? Is it a clean and reinstall, or is there a
replaceable filter in there somewhere? I only had 18 hours since the
last oil change, so I don't suspect I have a problem with the filter,
