Don't quite know what you have there. I know loran real well and can't imagine a "Loran-nav mixer box" - do you mean a loran preamplifier?
If it's a loran antenna, it won't work properly on a VHF radio, even if it looks like a com antenna. A NAV antenna is horizontally polarized (wrong direction for comm). Also, the match to the radio and coax is not too good. Lastly, it is very common to have defective cable and/or connectors.
