Dear Coupers: Was in Washington earlier this week on business and had a
chance to stop by College Park and the museum. They are really excited
about the upcoming EOC Convention. Most of the museum staff is
volunteer, so they're looking forward to seeing the coupers come. Of
course, what's so great about the museum is when you walk in the door,
one of the first things you see is an Ercoupe hanging from the ceiling.
They also have a cockpit forward displayed on the floor. Really looking
forward to being there. Also visited with my congressman, Jimmy Duncan,
who is chairman of the House Aviation Committee. He's is a good friend
of general aviation. I've known him for over 10 years, and he has
helped out several times with getting paper work out of Oklahoma City,
especially as it relates to medical problems. I have a friend who is a
retired TWA pilot. He had a little heart problem, but went through all
of the tests with certified flight surgeon, and still couldn't get
approval out of Oklahoma. This went on for three years. I called Duncan,
he got in touch with my pilot friend and before the week was out, he had
his medical back. It pays to have friends in high places!
