Hello all, I am seriously considering making a 'Coupe my next plane. I have previously owned:
1939 Aeronca 50C - Very old, show quality, fun plane 1946 Cessna 140 - nice one with O-200 (climbed like crazy, which is nice where I'm based) Piper PA-22-160 - Loads of fun but not quite my cup of tea in the end 1946 Cessna 140 - This one had C-85, a little anemic after being used to the O-200 Now I'm looking for something a bit different. I haven't flown in a 'Coupe yet, but have been reading all that I can on the net about them. I think I would prefer either an old 2 control or newer Alon style pedals. With all my tailwheel time, I'm afraid I would run off the side of the runway in a crosswind trying to hold the aileron into the wind with the ERCO style rudders. I figure the complete lack of pedals would be different enough that I would not regress to old habits so easily ;-) Are there many Ercoupes that have been converted to an O-200 out there or are the O-200's mainly on the Aircoupes? I know this is a very popular conversion for the Cessna 140's. I really like the extra horses as well as the stronger bottom end, TBO, etc. Just wanted to introduce myself and let you all know that I'm lurking about watching for any and all useful information.
