There's about a thousand other guys that that has happened to in boats. I usually 'eyeball' my GPS arrivals to bring me about a mile to the right of the target if it's my destination airport. Otherwise, I find that I'm staring out there looking for an airport that is quite literally under my nose (gear), and I have a helluva time seeing it.
