I found where my problem is coming from. It is the bottom plug on the #1
cylinder.  I can start it up on the left mag and after 15 seconds of
running, that #1 exhaust is still cold while the 3 others are real hot.
It
misses like crazy on the L mag up through about 1700.  The thing is it
seems
to be kicking in on the #1 around 1700 or so.  At 1700 on the left mag it
will alternately run a couple of seconds normally then drop 250 and
sputter
around on 3 cylinders making that loud air compressor noise, then back to
normal.  I'm not talking about a normal kind of roughness you get when you
run a mag check too long.  I have noticed an odd vibration from time to
time
when flying at reduced power.  Does anybody know what will make one cut
out
at low speed like that?  Seems opposite of how it should be.  Glen Ward
