I took 433A to Carswell AFB on Sat May 13 for the two day open house, squeezed her onto the 12,000 foot by 300 foot runway, landing at the towers request in the last 2,000 feet and still taxing about a mile to the static
display area. Perfect weather for two days, a zillion people who all loved the Coupe, the ones who know of the Coupe were glad to see one, others couldnt belive how cool of an airplane it was. Sunday PM for departure, somehow, me the 120 hour pilot was advised by Navy ground that I would lead the civilian line out, thats about 40 aircraft, Mustangs, T-34Bs, Loadstars, T-28s, L-birds, Bonanzas, Stoof, C-45, Navion, Experimentals, and on. So as luck would have it, "there I was", the little olive green Ercoup with the 120 hour pilot, leading a giant pack of 40 world class beautiful aircraft and 10,000 hour pilots on a long trip to the active. Smallest engine in the line. I didnt want to take the wrong taxiway or make a single mistake to bring shame upon my Coupe family. I guess I did OK. The tower had forgotten to advise us civilians about a large cable that crosses the end of the runway 1200 feet from the end, I cleared it on takeoff and reminded the tower to let everyone know about he cable. The Coupe cleared the cable but the Mustang behind me immediately said he would taxi over it prior to take off roll, made me feel good. Will try to put some photos out soon. Hands down one of the greatest two days of my life, Ed __________________________________________________________________________ ______ To unsubscribe from this list please send mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ___________________________________________________________ T O P I C A The Email You Want. http://www.topica.com/t/16 Newsletters, Tips and Discussions on Your Favorite Topics
