I think the grandson is about to get serious about planning the trip.
Tomorrow is the last day of school, so his attention is turning to "bigger

and better things." That is the good news. The bad news is that I am still
in
the middle of the annual inspection. The compression check turned up 3
cylinders with leaking exhaust valves, so I pulled all of them.
I turns out that whoever put the engine together apparently did not
check/set
the valve lash. Now, $600 and five days later, with the help of a flexible

cylinder shop, I have just put the fresh cylinders back in place. Yes, I
did
check the valve lash. I should be able to finish putting the remaining
pieces
back on tomorrow. However, I have not been able to finish the annual. I
will
still have to fly the engine 10 to 15 hours before we can head out on our
big
trip.
I know that it is taking a little longer, but at least we will have piece
of
mind about everything. As soon as I can see light at the end of this
tunnel,
we will put out a tentative route/schedule.
