Coupers; We are only in day 2, and we have had our first weather delay.
I've
heard VFR not recommended so many times, that I normally go look anyway.
Well, this AM, it was true. We got about 20 miles before turning back to
Americus, GA, and waiting for 4 hours for the weather to break.
Fortunately I
was able to get the Coupe in a hanger which meant that the weather turned
out
to be a few drops of rain.
We made it into EKY, Bessemer, AL about 12:30 PM CST. Fortunately, we only

had to go 170 miles, because we had headwinds that slowed us down to as
little as 68 mph. After two days, we have flown 615 miles and have 7 hours
of
flight time. We also drove 200 miles this afternoon in order to see the
Horse
shoe Bend National Historic Site. General Andrew Jackson became famous for

winning this battle against about 1000 Red Stick Cree Indians in March of
1814.
We did get to say HI to fellow Couper Cliff Sinclair. He said to tell
every
one HI.
We are relaxing at the pool now before dinner. Tomorrow it is off to
Beaumont, TX, if the weather cooperates. Hopefully, we will not lower our
trip average speed any more. It is down to 86 mph at the moment.
The Coupe is running great, and we are enjoying every moment. I wish that
many of you could join us on this trek around our great USA.
