Coupers; What a gorgeous morning. 62 degrees with 57 dew point before
dawn
accompanied by 50 mile visibility. We took of a few minutes after sunrise
and
headed west. The headwind component was only 25 mph to start with, and
slowly
dropped off to less than 10 mph after two hours. We were able to just
barely
make it to Rayville LA, just east of Monroe. It took 18 gallons to fill
our
21 gallon system! We will not cut it that close again. I guess I need to
cut
the legs to 200 NM instead of 250, unless I know there will be no
headwind.
We arrived in Beaumont about 1230 PM, and found that all the rental cars
were
out. Budget was the only game working. The FBO changed hands after the
AOPA
directory was printed, and they no longer have a courtesy car either.
Fortunately for me, the line person at the FBO lived near the Big Thicket
and
had been there. He was able to describe it to the 10 year old such that we

decided to go to the motel/pool instead. Now, I will have to call ahead
and
make sure of the transportation in the future. At least the grandson had a

great day in the pool, and we had a great day for flying. We are also
several
hundred miles closer to the West coast. Keep em flying Coupers.
