First, you shouldn't think that 70MPH is 'a little hot.' Actually, it's 
about the
bottom of the range, and too damn slow in a D model. Your airspeed
indicator
may vary, but learn to *look* outside and detect sink because at that
speed
you are very close to a fast ride down. This isn't a 172, with kite-like 
wings and
flaps. It's more like a Mooney or Bonanza down final.

There are some good discussions on the list archive and on
www.ercoupers.com.
Also, if you can get ahold of the original owner's manual (not the POH) 
there is
a good discussion. Univair and Skyport both have them. Only problem there
is that *their* speeds are really too slow for reality.
