Folks,

I'm in Athens, Georgia (AHN) and we're doing an annual on my 1969 Cessna 150J
with Continental O-200 engine (about 1950 smoh, 500 stoh). Compression was
low on one cylinder 80/62 and that one seemed to be leaking out the exhaust
valve. The rest of the cylinders were 80/76 80/77 80/77. We started pulling
cylinders, yesterday evening. #4 with the low compression has a broken ring
and pretty worn bore. The one next to that seems to have head cracks, bore
pretty good. Other side front looks pretty good and one is still on the
engine.

Oh, yes, in the middle of all this we pulled the shrouds off the
exaust....the cabin heat side has about a 4 inch long corroded, rusted
through crack in the pipe and would definately be a nice source of CO into
the cabin when using the heat. (and I remember using it as recently as May,
even here in Georgia)

So, my IA, came over to take a look. After pondering and poking here and
there, he announced, "You have a crack in your crankshaft." He pointed to a
spot on the back of the prop flange. He went and got his magnafluxing gear
and we pulled the prop. Under the blacklight we could see a crack about 1/4
of the way around the hub.

So, I guess I'm looking for an O-200 crank (mist pass approval of my IA and
be yellow tagable by an engine shop. or a decent engine with logs or even a
bottom end with logs or even some cylinders. Let me know what you have or
know of.

I'm also interested in your suggestions at how to proceed at a reasonable
cost.

So, even though your engine runs fine....IT MIGHT NOT BE!!! and inspect your
exhaust system.
