Coupers; We flew low today, in the car, as we drove over 400 miles.
However, I think the 10 year old really enjoyed the Oregon Caves. He even
wrote his journal entry on the way back which is a first. The caves, made
in
marble rock had lots of different calcite formations. It was well worth
the
tour's extra cost. We spent over an hour under ground and had to walk over
a
half mile. This was completely different from yesterday, where we had to
use
flashlights to see where we were going. Today, the cave was softly lit in
just the right places to see the changes that have taken place over the
last
several thousand years. We even saw a couple deer up close as we took the
long way back to where the car was parked. Joel earned his second Jr.
Ranger
badge and had a good time.
The weather looks good over the next few days, so we are trying to decide
whether to go directly to Cordelane, or to stop in Portland.
