I was out flying earler today, and noticed that the fuel level,
indicated by the wing tank gauge in the left tank, was dropping more
quickly than normal. After I landed I checked the fuel level in the
wing tanks and found that the right tank was still nearly full, while
the level in the left tank had dropped by 2 inches or so. After the
plane sat for about 15 minutes, the levels had evened up somewhat.

My system has aluminum tanks, with vented wing tank caps and fuselage
tank overflow to the left wing tank. I installed new tank cap gaskets a
couple of weeks ago. The cap vents are clear, so I'm at a loss to
explain what's happening. It seems likely, though, that while in flight
the fuel pump would eventually drain the left tank while leaving the
right tank almost full. Any ideas?

Thanks!
