Bill,  Mine always equalizes when sitting still.  Regarding running out of
fuel with a wing tank full, that certainly has not been my experience.  In
fact, I keep my 150 gal tank just outside the hangar on the coupe's right
side.  I usually only put in 6 gal at a time since I don't go very far as
a
rule.  In the course of flying around, most of the fuel will transfer from
the right tank to the left one and at the same time keep the header
overfull
until the wing tanks, especially the left which is last to empty, are
empty.
It makes no sense to me, but it all seems to work ok.
