Coupers; I knew the weather was moving SE, out of our path, so I was in no hurry to get going this AM. It was a good thing too. The FBO person did not show up until 8:15. I understand why some factories were enticed to move to NC, because when I asked the FBO line person here in Gastonia when they opened, he replied that he was in by 0630 AM. Dave told me yesterday that in NJ it was hard to find good help and if they showed up for work, they were
hired. Our flight to Gastonia, NC from Longwood, NJ was uneventful. We started at 6,500 and had to climb first to 8,500, and then 10,500 to stay above the clouds after we stopped in Tappahannock, VA for fuel. The winds were mostly on the side, so we managed to have the ground speed close to the indicated speed all day. The controller at Charlotte was surprised when I asked to enter the Class B airspace from the top! Kings Mountain National Park was interesting. I assume that it was made a National Park because of the battle being one where the Colonists learned that they could beat the British Patriots. I for one am glad that they did. Joel said that the park was interesting, but I think he is ready to get back home. He keeps asking how far it is to FL. Tomorrow should see us get home to Frostproof. At least we will be able to get an earlier start.
