Standard fiberglass resin is polyester, not epoxy. (You can get and use epoxy resin for 'fiberglass', such as the WEST system.)
Polyester resin tends towards porosity. It also tends to 'flake off' under certain circumstances as it is particularly brittle. Much more so than epoxy. I'd seal the cork with epoxy if it were my fuel system it were in.
