----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]---- The straight scoop! A 50 w. bulb is a 50 w bulb is a 50 w. bulb. It doesn't matter what kind it is, it still uses 50 w. But, I understand a halogen puts out more light per watt of power usage. Thus, if you can find a smaller wattage bulb for the application, you could get the same light as before. I.E., a 40 w. halogen could put out the same light as a 50 w. standard bulb, etc. By the way, I have no idea what the wattage of my landing light is, as I don't have anti collision lights, and thus don't fly at night. YET!
