The straight scoop!  A 50 w. bulb is a 50 w bulb is a 50 w. bulb.  It
doesn't matter what kind it is, it
still uses 50 w.  But, I understand a halogen puts out more light per watt
of power usage.  Thus, if you
can find a smaller wattage bulb for the application, you could get the
same light as before.  I.E., a 40
w. halogen could put out the same light as a 50 w. standard bulb, etc.  By
the way, I have no idea what
the wattage of my landing light is, as I don't have anti collision lights,
and thus don't fly at night.
