It would also be subject to the greatest change in temperature with changes in power and speed. Interesting observation Bob. I'll check mine. It made 660 hours and it was a bad valve that stop it. I'm not for sure which one. Either the head stuck or the valve swelled on mine. The valve stuck or became tighter and the extra force required on the cam resulted in a cam lobe being worn off.
