To burn one Qt. in 7 are 8 hours is a normal level, there are two types of pistons made and the new ones will not burn as much oil as the older ones. When you put together the engine new it has a oil ring gap of, (New Parts), .018 to .035, top ring, .013 to .025 for the third or fourth ring. So you can see that before the engine heats up it will be normal for these engines to pump oil, so you will use some oil. Have fun, and enjoy your airplane.
