Hello all,

well as you know by now I'm really into my 415G restoration. One thing
that I saw as a challenge when I bought the plane was the bubble
windshield. It was greyed from being in the sun and was difficult to see
through. I was really wondering if I would have to cough up the $$$ for
a new one.

Drawing from my airline experience, we used to remove scratches and
damage from airline windshields with a Micromesh kit. These kits can be
bought from any of the major supply houses for about 20 bucks. It
contains 6 pieces of superfine grit paper, the highest grit is 6000 grit.
After that comes a light polishing compound, and final finish with
Meguiar's mirror glaze.

Well, the windshield came out looking crystal clear like new, after about
4 hours worth of work! It really takes patience- but it pays off.

Also, here's my latest restoration log entries:
8/25/00 1. Got letter back from FAA for registration- they accepted my
letter and documents!2. Had letter notarized as afidavit, sent letter
back to FAA
3. I now have a temporary registration extension from the FAA
4. Awaiting notificaiton of change of tail number to 1659Z- the only
combination
I could find for my birthdate that was available, tried many others and
they
were taken.
