Hi Leslie,
We don't know yet the age or gender of any of the occupants. It could
have been Mama, Daddy and a
small child. If so, the child could have been in the back or on Mama's
lap. (Or Daddy's lap, depending
on who was flying.)
My first guess was 'over gross' and a departure stall. Or, if it was
a child and in someone's lap,
the child could have grabbed or bumped the wheel and pushed it forwaard.
The FAA report said 50-100
feet, at this height they wouldn't have time to recover if the wheel was
nudged forward.
It could have been engine failure or fuel starvation. There are still
to few details for us to do
anything more than 'guess' what happened.
Another 'maybe'....it happened at 2245hrs. Was the pilot experienced
at night flying? Or were they
visiting someone and it got dark on them and they tried to go home anyway
and perhaps weren't
'night-experienced' and without the visual referrences that they was used
to while flying during the day
they simply climbed to steep and ran out of power, when the nose dropped
they were to low and to slow to
recover. Since it was a 415C, it probably had a C-75 for power. Not
always, but 'ususally' if it's got
85hp it would be a 415D. Anyway, like I just said, to many 'ifs' and not
enough 'facts'.
I just hope that we eventually find out the full story so we can all
learn from it.
