Hi all;
It has been a while since I have made any postings here. I had been
pretty frustrated with the loss of parts from N87284 and not wanted to
look at it. But today I went to the airport and started dissassembling
her. Found some interesting things; like Tie rod ends to the rudders
were broken. And bolts missing from the control column.
I also found things under the instrument panel; like vacume lines
broken, brackets lying on the belly skin of the plane.
I did find out that at one time the airplane was a bright red...A
color that I may duplicate when that time comes. Since the Blue
seatbelts were removed, I may reinstall shiny new red ones.
On a sadder note I found corrosion really trying to get a foothold
throughout the old bird. But I think I may have caught it in time. I
will have to replace both upper and lower skins in the wing center
section though. I also found some startings for corrosion in the top
skin of the forward fuselage just behind the firewall. This will not be
a problem since I will be replacing that skin when I complete the
conversion which was started some time ago by one of the previous
owners.
I have received a fuselage tank and a nose gear from a fellow
Couper, Thanks again Lynn. They look like they will work out fine.
I will try to keep everyone informed as to my progress, but I am
getting a late start for this year and the cold temperatures are closing
in on Minnesota. (unheated, uninsulated hanger)
    Happy Landings to all
