Ed,

I had sticking valves a few years ago. I had my mechanic ream all four
exhaust valve guides. Since then I use TCP in the fuel and AVBlend in
the oil and I have not had a valve stick (I cannot get 80Oct here near
Boston so I have to run 100LL)

The valve guides can be reamed in place. You tie a piece of dental
floss to the valve and drop it into the cylinder at BDC. After reaming
the guide you pull the valve back into place. You may have to drop the
exhaust manifold to help get the valve back in place. It takes about 5
to 8 hours including removing the cowling and putting it all back
together to do the job.
