Back when I was doing boats, we had problems with sticky valves
in Universal Atomic (aka Anemic) 4 engines like I was running.
It was due to LACK of lead in unleaded fuel, as on some engines
the lead is a lubricant.

The manufacturer said to run a cup or so of Marvel in every 10 gallons
or so of gas (as I recall). Hell, the things smoked like chimneys anyway.

The evidence that it worked was anecdotal, but there was a LOT of
anecdotal evidence that it did work. Since having a valve stick on the
briny sucks almost as bad as it does in the air, especially when you
have to go upwind to your marina in San Francisco Bay, we stuck with
it pretty faithfully.

I agree... ...I wouldn't put it in the oil. It's a thin oil, and it's
going
to play
havoc with your viscosity, not to mention not having proper 'ashless
dispersant' qualities as specified for our engines.

But there is enough historical evidence that it *seems* to help low-tech
engines that, although I don't run it myself, I would consider putting it
through the fuel in a baby Continental whose valves were acting up.
