It doesn't cost any more, you still get the cheap interior, and you have a paper trail that the A & P/IA can use to document the interior as being legal. The last one I did, I made up an interior out of KYDEX (a 4' X 8' sheet cost $60) and the paper trail showed that it met the FAR 25 burn requirements for part 121. Overkill, yes, but the FAA inspector did not hesitate to sign the 337 either.
