Having bought two new spinners and one back plate as well as welding up another cracked spinner in the last three years, I now am the proud owner of a skull cap! ($30.00) I painted it to match the prop tips with the added advantage of getting rid of the back plates. Have noticed no difference in temperatures. Must be an old wife's tale. Like you $430.00 every time it cracks is too much. By the way, Lee is just as expensive!
