advice in this forum.]----

A quick question.

I have in my possession 4 415 wings. 2 on my plane,
and 2 that I'm working on. All 4 wings have the rear spar
at the aileron well completely covered with fabric.

That is where the fabric is stitched to the upper and lower
trailing edges it was left long and then cemented to the back
of the rear spar covering all the lightening holes.

I took a look at the wings on an old Coupe in a garage that
might have had the original cover on. There were big NC
numbers on the wing---. I "think" that the rear spar was open.
That is the lightening holes were not completely covered with fabric.

Now on the wings I am getting ready for recover, the ONLY
corrosion I have had to deal with, is in this area behind the rear spar.
I am wondering if perhaps this area should be left open for better
circulation of air. But then again if it is open it could trap debris.--

How bout all you Coupers out there. Is the aileron well covered, or
can you see the lightening holes in the rear spar when you look up
in there?

PS If you are thinking I'm working pretty slow on those wings--your
right. A&P school is my first priority.

Cheers:
