Hi Spook: I'm sure glad your full moon flight went better than mine. Last Tuesday I decided to fly to the EAA meeting since I was getting behind on my night currency. So I arrived at the plane just about dusk. Right off the bat, my GPS was dead---again. I have one of the King Skymap IIIC units and the antenna failed again. Well, I know the way even in the dark. Fired up and found my David Clark headset was dead---again. I'll send it in for warrantee for the third time, I have a spare. I approach the field and turn on the lights click click click click click ! What do I hear--click click click-- The phantom clicker turns them back down again. I'd like to catch them and have a chat someday. Got to the meeting and the club house was locked up. It was about freezing and I just froze my $^^&$^ for a while till someone arrived. After the meeting I went outside and WOW it was now 20 and my canopy was covered in frost. The last time I flew to the meeting it was about 50 out. I forgot what happens to windows when it's cold. About 20 minutes I had the wings clear and enough of the windshield clear to taxi. About 15 minutes and the oil temp is finally off the peg and the canopy is clear off I go on runway 16. Nice rate of climb in the cold--- I make a nice right hand turn downwind to depart to the north---- WAIT A MINUTE I'm not at my home field where the pattern is right hand for 17, I'm at Thun Field where it's left hand for 16. Oh well, at least there was no other traffic. Of course maybe they all took evasive action to avoid me. Oh well it was a perfect full moon night for flying and I was finally warm by the time I landed at home base.
