Paul; In any airplane the cracking of medal is not normal. It is caused from a high frequency vibration. There are two ways to stop this. First made sure your prop is in balance, and tracking straight, and the next is to put an extra brace from your engine mount to the exhaust pipe side that the muffler is cracking. Here is a good question to ask in this situation: When you are flying for several hours, holding the control wheel, after a flight are the next day does your finger tips feel a numbness?
