----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]----
Greetings,
I've just registered here and I thoight I'd write and introduce myself.
My name is Michael Dean ("Mike" is fine. Heck, "dude" is ok if ya want.)
and I'm a 'coupe fan
from SE Wisconsin. Burlington (C52, Chicago sectional) to be exact. I'm
currently building a
Sonex and plan to power it with a 2180 VW.
I'm currently working on my private and have about 65 hours dual. I have
not soloed yet because
I wanted to wait untill I got hand controls. I'm Post Polio and, while I
can move my legs, I don't have
a lot strenght in them and I'm afraid if I ever need to kick hard rudder,
I wouldn't be able to.
Well, I got my hand controls and then shortly afterwards lost my
instructor (went to work for the airlines).
So I've been sitting since May of '99. But I just joined a local flying
club and one of their CFI's agreed
to finish me off. So maybe by next summer. (Co-designer Pete Buck is
working on permanent hand
controls for the Sonex.)
For obvious reasons I've been drawn to the 'coupe, but even if I didn't
need one, I'd still want one because
they are just such a neat looking plane. And, from what I've heard,
(Unfortunatley I've never had the good
fortune to ever ride in one.) their reputation is spotless. I've looked
into buying one a couple of times but
by the time you add insurance, hanger, annual, etc. they're just a bit out
of range. That's why I decided
to build. I can pay as I go,as I can afford to. It may take me a bit
longer but hey, we do what we can.
Right?
Anyway, just wanted to say hi, and thanks to Joa for turning me on to this
list.
Mike
