Every airport I travel to always brings onlookers and admirers to my Alon. Flying my Alon requires one hour of describing and answering questions about my plane for ever two hours I fly. One thing is certain, no 150/172 will ever bring you in contact with so many people curious about your plane. What a hoot to have the opportunity to talk to so many people about somthing you enjoy so much. I hated (at first) the little tail wag that the Ercoupe exhibits... now I don't even notice it unless my passenger points it out. Same for the low-wing vs. high wing. If you get used to riding on top of the wing like a flying carpet, then landings don't feel too normal in a high wing... kinda feel like I'm dangling on a pendulum when I rent a 172. Not the airplanes fault mind you... just not what I am used to. I love being able to fly top down if I want. I have a friend that has a 150. He refuses to fly in the coupe unless I promise to keep the windows down. SO... it's kinda like apples and oranges... no wait a minute, apples are better. Here's something that can't be debated though... you sure do get alot more usable hangar space if you have a high wing... ARRGH!
