Okay, time for a Willamette Valley Oregon weather
report....Yesterdays high was 49 and the low was
39. Right now, at noon, it's 46 out there and again today there is
nothing above me but 'blue', not a
cloud in sight. (Of course out here on the ranch I'm pretty much
surrounded by tall fir trees so I
can't see from horizon to horizon like you guys in the desert can.) I
guess 'nowhere' has everything
desirable, it just depends on what is most important to each individual
when determining where you'd
rather live.
I've been in all 50 states and 28 countries. With temperatures ranging
from 100 below zero to 138
above zero. I didn't find anywhere that I liked better than here so when
I retired from the USAF I came
back here. For me, this is 'the' place to be. I don't mind the rain in
exchange for all the green.
I don't like temeratures that get low enough to break pipes and
cripple machinery. I like to be able
to go outside and work year round. (I hate 'cabin fever', it's very
contagious.) By the same token, I
don't like temperatures over about 90 degrees, so........here I am and
I've got what's right, for me.
I don't mean to offend anyone, if you're happy where you are then
you've found the place that's
'right' for you, just like I have.
The only bad thing I can say about this area is that the University of
Oregon is here. I wish they'd
gather every piece of 'heavy equipment' in the state and move that
'ghetto' about 250 miles East. And
take all the rioters, anarchists, protesters, Berkley CA rejects and dope
dealers that hang out around
the campus with them. Then Eugene would be a nice town again. Oh, and our
'City Manager' who banned
American flag decals from the emergency vehicles and banned Christmas
trees from all 'City Offices'.
(You proably heard about this on national news, 20-20 sent camera crews
here to film the citizens who
are 'pro-Christmas'. And Portland Oregons "Lars Larson" brought his 3 hour
call-in talkshow down here
and broadcasted his entire show 'live' from one of our local radio
stations who had a 'nationally'
broadcasting of a Christmas tree lighting up on the roof of their station
where it can be seen from all
over town. The mayor of Eugene was interviewed on the show and he was not
in favor of the Ban but
unfortunately we have a 'City Manager' type of government here so the
dictator 'out-ranks' the mayor
when it comes to ordinances.
There, I've said it, that ought to ruffle some feathers!!!!! : -
))))) Now you all know why I
live out here on the ranch instead of inside the city.
Gotta go, I see seven deer standing outside my window looking in here
and wondering why I'm not out
there feeding them.
Bye for now,
Bob Saville
