Dear Coupers, This message is for you non-nerds in the crowd. Nerds, please ignore it. You'll be saying DUH!? too much and I'll be embarrassed.
Saving and/or sending a text file in ASCII is always a good idea. All
software and all operating systems can handle it. ("We don't need no
stinking formatting.") Some software doesn't give you the SAVE AS option
in ASCII. Instead, the choice is text or text only. Same thing. The
usual
extension you see for ASCII files is .txt
If you must save/send an image, generic binary is usually a safe bet. If
you know specifically how the image was created and know what it will be
used for, you might then want to use a particular image format. There are
so many of them!
